What’s In My Bag?

This is my bag. I love it so much! It’s a pink Radley Aldgate, and it was a present from my parents for my 21st birthday. I’m extremely picky about handbags, so when I decided I needed to get a ‘grown-up’ handbag, I fell pretty hard for this one. I love that it’s got three sections (two zipped and one open), and plenty of pockets, that it’s big enough to put my laptop in, and that it’s got long enough handles to go over my shoulder. I can’t believe I’ve never put it on the blog before! Anyway, read on to see what I carry around with me every day!

This is a very spacious bag, so I’ll often sling quite a bit more stuff in here than is shown above – maybe my laptop, an umbrella, a cardigan, some paperbacks, some lunch… It’s like a TARDIS!

I’m not the most graceful or spatially aware person, so I carry a little pouch of first aid stuff in (the very likely) case that I’ll injure myself while I’m out. This little pouch is from Ollie and Nic, and contains things like painkillers, allergy medicine, plasters, hand sanitiser, wet wipes, and other little medical bits. The peacock tin keeps all my girly products together (you never know when someone might need something from there). I also always carry a hand-powered torch, just in case!

Of course I keep quite a few beauty bits on me! I like to carry one of Lush’s solid perfumes for top ups (at the moment, it’s Imogen Rose), a lip balm (currently The Body Shop’s Born Lippy pot in Guava), a tinted lip balm (Tony Moly Bunny Gloss Bar), some hand cream (currently Caudalie*), a pocket mirror, my favourite lipstick (Barry M TMLP), and my glass nail file (which is utterly amazing and has made my nails so much stronger!). I’ll also chuck in whatever nail polish I’m wearing, in case of chips, and often whatever lip product I’m wearing that day.

On a more practical note, I always carry a little notebook – this one by Roger Bordet is so pretty. My Moleskine diary never leaves my bag, I’d be lost without it! Muji pens are the best pens in the world, so I keep a black and a green one in my bag, plus a pencil (this one says ‘Asha’s Pencil’ on the end, like the ones I used to have at school!). I’ve always got a book on me, usually a novel, but at the moment I’ve got the Latin text I’m currently revising. I also keep post-its handy for leaving notes, but I forgot to put them in the picture!

The essentials: my glasses, my keys (look at my little Disneyland keyring, so cute!) and my phone, which I need to survive!

I just recently bought a new purse from New Look (this one) and I’m loving how many pockets it’s got in it! There’s a section for everything! I thought I’d pull out two tickets from recent events I’ve been to: a Fall Out Boy concert at Wembley, from March, and Henry VI Part One at Stratford, which I went to last week.

So, that’s all the stuff I carry around – there’s quite a bit more than I thought, but it’s all essential! Do you favour a big bag of things, or are you more streamlined?

  1. Lovely post!

Even though you carry quite a lot of stuff around in your bag, I can see that it’s all really useful and necessary! My problem is that I tend to accumulate so much random and useless stuff that seems to live in my handbag for ages before I finally get around to organizing it all / clearing it out! xx

    • Thanks! 🙂
I used to be really bad with that, but now I make the effort to clear everything random out when I get back in, so it doesn’t seem too bad 😛 I do think most of this stuff is pretty essential, or at least handy to have on me 🙂

  2. I love the Bunny Gloss Bars! They’re adorable. I’m not going to lie, but I honestly had to Google “hand-powered torch” because I was under the impression that it was a handheld fire. Nope, it’s a flashlight. Oh man.

    • Haha! That would be a little bit dangerous! 😛 I didn’t realise “torch” was a UK thing til today, sorry for the confusion! 😛 It doesn’t take batteries, you power it by squeezing a lever, so it can never run out of power 🙂
And yes, the Bunny Gloss Bars are so cute! 🙂

  3. I wish my bag was the TARDIS; I could use some more space. My bag is also stuffed to the brim, to the point that it hurts my shoulders sometimes when I cart it around…I have heard great things about the LUSH perfumes, but how does a solid perfume work?

    • Haha, yeah, the shoulder ache is a big pain!
The solid perfumes are in a wax base, like lip balm – you rub the perfume over your wrists/anywhere else, then rub it into your skin! They don’t have such good sillage as a spray, but they’re very long lasting – and handy for carrying about!

  4. I loved this post. I also love your wallet and purse. The small safety kit idea is genius. I mean I already travel with band aids from time to time a long with polysporin, so why not make a little safety kit out of them. Thanks for posting this.

  5. I love to see the “What’s in my bag” blogs and videos. Thanks, for sharing and I love your notebooks as well as the little tin container (very pretty). Thank you, also for reading my blog. I am enjoying your blog as well. 🙂 By the way, are you on youtube?

    • Thanks, I’ve never done one before but it was really interesting to lay everything out and see how much there is! 🙂 I’m glad you like my blog! I’m not doing YouTube at the moment – I might in future, but at the moment I’m happy just blogging 🙂 The writing and photography is what I enjoy most!
