Today, it begins. I have 4 and a half hours of exams – yep, Finals have begun. This is what I’ll be wearing for the next 18 days…
So, at Oxford, they don’t let you sit your exams in normal clothes, oh no. You have to wear what is called ‘sub fusc’, which is essentially white shirt, black skirt/trousers, and your ‘gown’, which is a sort of silly swooshy thing not at all like a Harry Potter robe (unless you jump through some academic hoops to get a cool one).
Sub fusc is usually hot and uncomfortable, and no one looks their best in it… Especially me!
I did however buy some heels so that the whole things wasn’t entirely devoid of style!
(Did you know I wore glasses? ‘Cause I do!)
That’s me all dressed for today, then, and a heads up that while posts will continue daily, I might not be around much answering comments, reading other blogs, or on Twitter… Got a lot of memorising to do – wish me luck!

Good luck with your exams. Hope they go well! What is it you are studying? What a peculiar custom re. the clothes you have to wear for exams:)
Thank you! It is a bit odd, but everyone just kind of accepts it! I do Classics, so mostly Latin literature and Roman history 🙂
Classy and chic look. Loving black and white combination. 😀

Haha, really? I feel like a cross between a secretary and a wizard who got caught in a hedge 😛
Good Luck with all your exams 😀

Thank you hon 🙂
You’re totally working it! 🙂 good luck on your exams xx
Haha, thank you! 😛
Good luck with your exams! 🙂
Thanks 😀
What? They actually make you do that? It is like a motivational tactic like, “look how close you are to graduating!”
Anyway, good luck on your exams!!

Thank you! It’s one of those old traditions that doesn’t make a lot of sense out of context, but is actually kind of nice. It does help get you in the mood for exams, ’cause that’s the only time you wear it – like putting on your armour!
Good luck with your exams and love your shoes!
Thank you very much 🙂
That is so strange that they make you do that, lol. Cute shoes, though!
It’s an old tradition, one of those funny things about Oxford, I suppose! Thanks 🙂
