Outfit of the Day: Regal Purple

I had a bit of a lull in the exams early last week, and took advantage of it by getting dressed up! The long sunny evenings are so beautiful in Oxford, so we headed down to Oxford Castle to take a few pics of my new dress, thanks to FD Avenue!

When I was offered to chance to pick anything from the FD Avenue website, I was instantly drawn to the purple Frankie dress – if you’ve ever seen any of my fashion posts, you might know just how much I love a lace skater dress! I think that dresses like this are the perfect medium between casual and smart, and this purple one is an amazing addition to my wardrobe.

I teamed this with a plain black cardigan because it wasn’t *quite* warm enough for bare arms, but look, I got away with no tights! I really like the peek-a-boo hem on this dress, it adds a little bit of fun to the dress and shows off the pretty lace. Of course, it wouldn’t be a skater dress OOTD without my Ubiquitous Belt…

If you follow the link above, you might think that this dress is not exactly as it appears on the website, and I’d agree – in particular I was surprised how dark it was! I still think that it’s super pretty, though, and FD Avenue’s prices are so good that it’s worth taking the chance. The slightly darker purple makes this a little more versatile than just a summer dress, and I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of it later in the year, as well as for summer evenings.

After a few weeks of being cooped up in the library, I wanted to get away from my everyday neutral make up, so I went for eyeshadow in purple shades to shake things up a bit. Most of the colours used were Urban Decay, but I also used a dark blue from the Sleek Storm palette, which I’ve been loving recently!

Dress: FD Avenue*. Cardigan: New Look. Shoes: Primark. Belt: ??? Earrings: New Look, old (similar).

What do you think?
