My Favourite Autumn Scarves

P1030774

I love that bit of autumn where it’s starting to get cold enough for layering, but not so cold that you need to wear an entire sheep’s worth of gloves, hats and scarves. I think that a trench coat with a floaty scarf is such a stylish look! So here’s which light autumn scarves are my favourites this year!

My first scarf is a gorgeous raspberry pink with a cherry blossom and bird pattern (the same as this vest top which I wore all summer!). It comes from Oasis and is still available if you want to check it out. I love it – it goes perfectly with my autumn satchel.

This next scarf I picked up in a little shop in Hay on Wye, so I’m afraid it’s not one I can link you to… It’s a really pretty lavender-grey with an intricate turquoise swirl design, and it’s ever so soft!

This cute little thing is more fun than stylish. It was from Primark last year, and cost all of about £3 – they might have some similar styles this year, but you’ll have to pop in to find out. It is absolutely huge, and I have to do a fair bit of folding to stop it poofing out all round my neck, but it’s good for slightly colder days!

And lastly, this scarf is a little thinner and shorter than the others, but it still keeps my neck warm! I absolutely love the deep, rich colours of the florals, which take it nicely into autumn despite being a summery pattern. The best thing about this one was that it was only 50p in a charity shop!

Is a lightweight scarf something you can get behind in autumn? Let me know what you think of my picks!

Autumn Lush Essentials

P1030105

Okay, so nothing from Lush is particularly essential, but these are the products that I’m reaching for more and more as the year, sunlight, and warmth slip away to autumn. Don’t get me wrong, I love autumn, and I love switching up my skincare and toiletries to accommodate things – so here are my favourite Lush autumn products.

(Quick disclaimer – I haven’t bought anything from the Halloween or Christmas collections, so that’s not what I mean by autumn products. Don’t fear, there’ll be a massive Limited Edition haul sometime next week, I’m sure!) Continue reading

Autumn Lust List! (Yes, Early)

c600x434

Well, the sun appears to have given up for August, and I’m sat in the kitchen watching the drizzle and feeling ready for autumn. So here’s what I’m craving for the day when I’m allowed to wear dark colours and boots again!

This lace dress from Boohoo would be perfect for when it gets too cold for my favourite lace summer dress (see it in two colours here), and it’s only £20! I’m imagining it with black tights and gold flats for a library day, or high heels for a party.

I’ve seen these boots in person in New Look, and they’re much much redder than the picture shows. The heel is a good height, and these would look really lovely with grey skinny jeans. At £25, they’re not exactly expensive, but a bit much for an impulse purchase… I don’t know if they quite fit my style, but I do think they’re lovely.

I really love these earrings from New Look – I like slightly more dramatic jewellery in autumn and winter, and think these would be very cute, and an easy buy at £6.99.

Ojon, oh Ojon. How long have I been lusting after this stripy hair oil? The Rare Blend Oil is pretty pricey, at £30, but it smells incredible and seems to be a bit of a wonder oil, with excellent reviews.

With autumn comes autumn term, and with term comes walking past Lush every day. It’s going to be hard to resist this gorgeous shimmery taupe cream eyeshadow, Sophisticated. I think £14 is a bit much for one colour, but the formula of these is great.

And last but not least, I’ll have run out of my day cream by the start of term, and while I like it, I’m up for a change. I love the smell of the Boots Botanics All Bright range, and my skin seems to like it, so I might well try this one. It’s £4.99, which is about standard for a high street day cream, but is often on sale – it’s currently £3.33!

Are you feeling autumnal yet? What are you looking forward to most about the end of summer?

I’m happy!

I am in an unusually good mood tonight. Here are five things that are making me happy right now.

1. My new dress. It’s exactly what I had in mind for my Belle costume (see below), and also works beautifully on its own for a night out.

2. Camomile tea with apple and cinnamon. This smells like autumn – I love cinnamon, especially with apples, and this makes me feel ready for Bonfire Night and scarves.

3. New boots arriving tomorrow (hopefully to appear in a post of their own tomorrow) from Next. Finally a pair of go-with-everything winter boots!

4. My gorgeous, lovely and wonderful boyfriend, who’s currently being ever so supportive about my play. He never fails to cheer me up if I’m down, so imagine what he does to me when I’m already in a good mood! (Plus he bought dinosaur cookie cutters. I mean, wow.)

5. For the first time all day, I’m warm. It took two pairs of socks and holding a mug of boiling water, but none of my fingers or toes feel like they’re going to fall off.

I hope you’re having as nice a night as I am 🙂

Outfit of the Day: 22nd September

It is officially autumn, hooray. I adore autumn. I like puddles and autumn colours and jumpers and the heating coming on and the start of the good TV programmes and hot chocolate and everything.

I always used to hate dressing for autumn, though. I had no idea how to layer, and just threw a big bulky hoody over the same boring pair of black jeans or grey cord miniskirt and black tights. No fun at all.

But I understand autumn now – and I have a whole new wardrobe to show it 🙂

Here’s what I wore yesterday, on a crisp but sunny autumn day out in town with my boyfriend:

Cropped for red eye. This was the nicest photo of my outfit, but my face was terrifying!

Okay, so that is a cord miniskirt and black tights, but it’s a blue cord miniskirt! Both the jumper and skirt are from H&M, which have pretty much provided my whole autumn wardrobe. I have this skirt in two colours (blue and orange) and want to buy the burgundy one, which they didn’t have in my size (boo), and this jumper in blue and burgundy, and a similar cable knit jumper in grey and turquoise.

I’m wearing my Accessorize ring, to feature in a jewellery post next week, hopefully, and my TARDIS necklace, which you can’t see ’cause I forgot to pull it out of the jumper. That looks like this:

Excuse the cleavage!

My lovely TARDIS was a Christmas present from Boyfriend, and I wear it almost every day  🙂

I also wore my incredible sand-coloured suede boots, which I forgot to get a picture of, but might edit in tomorrow. My feet ache like crazy today!

Are you excited to start layering up for autumn? I can’t wait for it to be scarf weather, I’m looking forward to breaking those out of the wardrobe!
