So I didn’t do an empties post last month, but I’ve collected plenty of stuff to show you since my last post! I’ve been collecting it all in my cute Oxmeet tote bag from The Blogger Programme – much more stylish to have on the bathroom door handle than a plastic bag! Shall we get going? Continue reading
I’m incredibly late off the mark with this review – every blogger and her dog has tried and reviewed the Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayons already. In my defence, though, I bought these the week they came out, and have only managed not to photograph them so far because they’ve never been out of my bag/pocket/hands. As you can see from the total state the packaging is in!
Week Three already! Have you seen weeks one and two of the Starting Off Project? This is an excellent blog series thought up by Steph over at Steph’s Inside Voice, so have a read of my posts, then head off to look at some of the other girls’ posts!
This week, we’re discussing our foundations. I don’t have a large amount of experience with foundation, having worn the wrong colour and type for my skin until about six months ago, but anyway… here’s my views on foundation.
As with concealer, if you have flawless skin (which some of you undoubtedly will), you don’t need to bother. Foundation covers up any imperfections in your skin and creates a more even skin tone, hopefully giving you the perfect skin you longed for! Continue reading
Wow, this week’s gone quickly – it’s already time for the second installment of Steph’s SO Project!
Did you see my introductory post about skincare last week? Check it out here, then come back for week two!
Ready? Then here we go: my take on concealer.
I’m just going to apologise now for the state of the photos over the next few days – I appear to have left my camera charger in Oxford, so I’m relying on my good old iPhone and its bad old camera. Sorry!
Well, if you’re blessed with perfect skin – no under-eye circles, no blemishes, no red patches – then you don’t need to bother at all. The rest of us mortals, however, sometimes need a little bit of help to even out our skintone before we apply foundation, so that we don’t need six layers of foundation to look one colour! One week, one tiny hand-luggage bag.
I had to be super ruthless with my packing for my holiday, especially since I was limited to only 10 liquid items, all to be under 100ml (luckily I could stash dry products to my tiny suitcase’s content)! Only my true beauty heroes came with me, and here’s the rundown:
- Lush Happy Hippy Shower Gel (100ml) – there’s nothing summerier than citrus scents, and this grapefruit shower gel is absolutely gorgeous.
- Garnier Moisture Match, Green (50ml) – this mattifying day cream is light and nullifies any shine from the heat, but moisturises sun-parched skin just enough.
- Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Triple Rose Moisturiser (30ml) – this is a more heavy duty face cream, which I use as a night cream. Perfect for topping up the moisture at the end of the day.
- Lush 9 to 5 cleanser (decanted into a 50ml bottle) – this is my lovely everyday cleanser (in the unlabelled bottle) – just perfect for making sure that every last trace of suncream is gone from your skin, avoiding any overload.
- Lush Eau Roma toner (100ml) – now this little beauty is getting a post all of its own soon, so I won’t say too much, but this is wonderful both in my normal cleansing routine and as a cooling spray when it’s hot hot hot!
After a quick trip to Oxford at the weekend, I have been reunited with my make up bag and all my everyday make up! Since I missed it so much during the week I didn’t have it, I thought, what better time to show you what I rely on to make my face look a bit normal?
Obviously, I’m still loving the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation and Concealer, both in Shade 51. In case my glowing review here didn’t convince you of my love for these two products, let me tell you a little fact – this is the BEST foundation ever. It’s light coverage, gives the perfect slightly dewy texture, and is the perfect colour for me. The concealer is also excellent, but after using my mum’s Collection Illuminating Touch concealer, I might have been won over to that as a slightly more budget buy… We’ll see how it goes when I run out of this! I’m at home! I’ve left the dreaming spires behind for some real dreaming (ie, sleeping like the dead for a week to make up for term time). And of course, since leaving Oxford feels like leaving civilisation, I did some shopping before I came down. And then found some more beauty bits waiting for me. And then did a little bit of book shopping once I got home.
I’m going to be putting myself on an unnecessary beauty spending ban for July, while I save up for a ticket to Green Man festival in August, so these are the last few bits and bobs I’ll be getting for a little while.
Today, then, I’ll show you my haul from Superdrug. Tomorrow, it’ll be what I stocked up on from Lush. Saturday, you can see what was waiting for me when I got home, and then on Sunday, for the Book Nook, my book buys.
This is thanks to running out of powder, looking for an alternative to Lush’s Aqua Marina, and a tempting Bourjois offer…
Bourjois So Laque Nail Polish in Adorableu – I’m still lusting after the perfect cornflower blue polish…
Oasis mint skater dress – this is too expensive for me to buy (£65!) but so pretty.
Milani Face Powder in Beauty’s Touch – look! It’s embossed with roses! I really want this, but I don’t know if you can get it in the UK. (Edit: It’s actually on Amazon here!)
Lush R&B – this hair moisturiser is brilliant for taming dry, fluffy ends, and it smells delicious too.
L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil – I’ve been using my mum’s bottle of this on my hair while damp, and I really think it made a difference to the shininess of my hair.
Debenhams blue patent court shoes – I adore these. I stroke them every time I go in Debenhams. I can’t quite bring myself to shell out £45 for them though… I’m a size 7, if anyone’s feeling generous!
What are you lusting after this week? I’ve only got one week to go on my spending ban, which means only one week til my birthday! I’m getting excited!
It seems like everyone on the planet loves this foundation, and I have to say, I’m no exception. I’ve been using Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer for a little over a week now, and I’m so impressed by it, I thought it was about time for a little review!
So… I went shopping again… Although in my defence it was planned this time (mostly)! The things I planned might have grabbed a few other things to join them in my basket, though…
The most boring things here were planned:
Two boxes of hair dye, to sort out the stripy, multi-coloured mess that is my hair (bottom half auburn, then 8 inches of the colour I actually want to be, then four inches of my natural lighter hair) before I head back to college.
The most amazing cotton pads in the world! They’re huge – I can do my whole face or all ten nails with one, instead of four tiny round ones. They’re very absorbent and soft and quilty. They never come apart at the sides like cheap ones. They are from Lloyds and they are a complete necessity to me now (as far as cotton pads can be). I only picked them up by mistake originally, but I’m in love.
